Caroleen Sanders Pipe
I finally got an example of Caroleen Sanders pottery. This one shows the great detail she puts into her art. If you want to see a couple more photos visit her page on our website.
The pipe is a traditional portrait pipe. Image of Martha Jane Harris was used. Martha Jane Harris was the most prominent potter of the 19th century, grandmother of Georgia Harris. She taught Georgia Harris. The pipe measures: 2 ½ by 2 5/8. Caroleen is celebrated for her sculpted pieces including portrait pipes. See: Blumer’s Catawba Indian Pottery: Survival of a Folk Tradition for more information on these three potters.
