Catawba Indian Pottery and Crafts Show
I just got home from the sale. I want to thank all those that came out to see the potters and made a purchase from the bottom of my heart. I would call it a success. I'm pretty sure all the potters sold some pottery which was the objective of the show. I got some pictures which I will display later. We even had some surprise potters. Caroleen Sanders and Monty "Hawk" Branham showed up. Caroleen had a few pieces to sell and "Hawk" only had one piece. We were setting it up to take some pictures and a lady walked by and said "is that for sale?" of course Hawk let her purchase it. Caroleen's pieces were breathtaking which I was expecting. The real good news is Monty "Hawk" Branham is going to "burn" some pieces in a couple of weeks and they will be available on the website. It is great that Hawk is going to start making pottery again.
I want to extend a special thanks to Joe English and Kevin Lapp for coming to the sale. They both traveled a long distance to see the works of these great potters. We spent a couple of hours together discussing pottery and had a great time.
I saw 2 of the famous elders Earl Robbins and Evelyn George. That in its self was a honor. Evelyn was such a gracious lady. She inspected "Hawk's" piece to be sure it meet her specs. Earl was close by watching his daughter Margaret.
Thanks to all for a special day.
